This colorful story is my favorite recent addition to my hobby collection. This is a beautiful story of how your uniqueness can be scary to others BUT it doesn't have to be scary to you! It's a powerful lesson for young ones and an inspiring reminder for us adults. Being and loving yourself is a brave act and can inspire others around you to do the same. I love reading Dannie's story while using my beloved color pencils to add my colorful expressions to the story. The guide for adults is a beautiful bonus that reminds us adults that kids are people too and fosters healthy, kind and exploratory conversations with them. They're so observant and have big feelings but not the language yet. You can feel the love in this art. Pay it forward!

I bought this for my kids and it is such a great concept! They really felt connected to the main character as they became part of the story, and the message it delivers is really powerful. Having kids create the story by coloring is such a good idea. My son actually said at the end "that is a really good book".
